All Day with Dayona Godwin

As a part of the Stephen Decatur girls basketball team in Berlin, Maryland, Dayona Godwin was the focal point of a team that won two Bayside South conference titles.

Following a prep career that included winning player of the year honors as a sophomore and scoring 2,000 points, Godwin continued her basketball career at the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore as a walk-on.

In this episode, Godwin discusses with host Earl Holland the level of competition at the high school and the Division I college levels, why she chose to play at UMES, and how Kobe Bryant influenced her style of play.

Godwin also shares her aspirations post-basketball and how the COVID-19 outbreak impacted both her team’s run for a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament title and her graduation.
